When you want to escape the confines of city life, a park is a great venue to enjoy the beauty of the natural world. Our city of Price, UT, is lucky to have many state parks within easy traveling distance. When we like to get back in touch with nature, these are some of our favorite parks to visit.

Scofield State Park

Scofield is located just of SR 96 and includes the 2,815-acre Scofield Reservoir. The reservoir was created in 1946 through a dam built on the Price River. Bounded by the Manti-La Sal National Forest, this park provides a wide variety of things recreational possibilities both day and night. The two campgrounds are each served by boat ramps, allowing access to the reservoir.

Fishing abounds, and rainbow trout, cutthroat trout, and tiger trout will test your fishing skills. The avid hiker has a variety of trails to follow, and the view of the surrounding area from the shoreline is magnificent. If you’d like to camp overnight, both campsites provide electricity and water. Winter visitors also have the option to enjoy ice skating, cross-country skiing, and snowmobiling.

Huntington State Park

This park is less than 20 miles southwest west of Price, UT, but it feels like a completely different world. This hauntingly-beautiful desert oasis nestles against the calm warm water of Huntington Reservoir. Cinnamon-colored buttes provide a tranquil backdrop for you to enjoy a leisurely picnic. A wide variety of waterfowl make this their home, providing plenty of spotting opportunities for avid birdwatchers.

Loudmouth bass and bluegill also provide opportunities for fishing. Visitors can also try crawdad catching or waterskiing during the warm summer days. The park is open daily except on Thanksgiving and Christmas, and you can rent paddleboards and kayaks to explore the waters. Camping is also available, and the sites have water, electricity, and sewerage hookups for $33 per day.

Millsite State Park

Also southwest of us at Ferron Canyon Road, Huntington, Millsite provides numerous opportunities to enjoy your stay. Fishing is available on Millsite Reservoir, and you can also boat on the reservoir. The park is adjacent to a golf course if you’d like to get in nine or eighteen holes for relaxation. A variety of trails throughout the park provide plenty of opportunities to test your offroad biking skills.

Camping is available, and their sites have water and electricity hookups. There are no concession stands, but you can bring all the ingredients to enjoy a picnic surrounded by the park’s beautiful vistas.

These are just a few of the diversity of parks surrounding us. Whichever park you choose to visit, your 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT will take you there in style and comfort. At 26 mpg on the highway, and a powerful 4-WD drivetrain, you’re ready to explore our incredible parks with fuel efficiency and ease. Come in and see us for any advice and more expert local knowledge at Blue Diamond Chevrolet GMC.
